東北地方の山村・七月村。
この地に語り継がれている奇妙な伝承を調べるために東京の大学からふたりの学生がやってきた。
吹雪に見舞われて遭難しかけたふたりは、この地域を統べる七月家の次女・紅緒に助けられ、『七悪館』と呼ばれる黒塗りの洋館へと招かれる。
折りしも七月家では奇妙な結婚式が執り行われていた。
新婦が棺の中に入って一晩無事に過ごし、朝を何事もなく迎えられれば晴れて婚姻は成立するのだが——
——何者かの殺意が、結婚式を破壊した。
被害者を含め、関係者は十名。
それにふたりの闖入者が加わって——
退路のない陸の孤島で、惨劇の夜が明ける。
