Mitsugu Mouryou’s Anime Review
Mouse is about a master thief from a long line of master thieves named Sorata Muon. Though he poses as an art teacher/grad student by day, by night he pulls off some ridiculous heists with the aid of his 3 lovely assistants… Kind of like an evil version of Charlie’s Angels. That is if the angels were constantly trying to jump Charlie’s bones, so to speak. This series is pure fan service, and nothing else. The plot is brief, very brief. There may be 12 episodes, but each one is only about ten minutes in length so you can bang it out in 2 hours(no pun intended). It starts off with one heist per ep, till the 3rd, and then it turns in a run of 2 parters through most of the rest of the series, so it’s not too quick, or too terrible. The music is very jazzy and reminiscent of old-timey 70’s cartoons, especially in the chase sequences. From time to time I almost thought Josie or Velma were about to jump out and trip the police or something. I also for some reason was reminded of the melodies of MegaMan, not sure why. Voice acting Many voices you’ll recognize, and many that will leave you scratching your head while you look them up wondering where you’ve heard them before. I’d recommend the EN dub, due to the fact I can’t find an accurate subbed vers. The subs kept cutting out on me. Character design is your standard buxom ladies wearing skimpy outfits… and even the normally proportioned become overly top heavy when they’re in the skimpy leotards… pure fan service. Though I do have to admit there is a new addition to my favorite minor characters: Mirei Hanamura. She don’t talk much, but she when she does, she seems to be the humorous voice of reason. Character development: All the 3 main chars chars have 2 part episodes that explain a smidge about their past, and every now and then there’s a flashback, but that’s it. Not much. In conclusion: This Series, though it seems more like an OVA is good fun for brief viewing, but its light on action, light on plot and light on humor(you’ve seen it all before). So for my money, I’d say it was an enjoyable view but nothing I want to put into regular rotation. With mild violence, adult situations, some nudity, and no foul language, I give it a 2.9 (out of 10) a quick view of fun, but lacks substance. Thank you MMAR51 |
