Hello, Vocaloid fans! I've found a special treat for you, something cute and
functional:
This version of Hatsune Miku's leek is also an awesome sensu fan. Since the Heian era, sensu have been used not only to provide a cool breeze, but also to express courtesy, as presents, and as a means of communication. In many famous historical texts and works of literature, such as The Tale of Genji, people are mentioned as writing Japanese poems on sensu, or sticking flowers to them and sending them as presents. Amongst the samurai class, they were considered as equivalent to a sword, and respected accordingly. Sensu fans invented in Japan received high praise for their compact folding design. This modern-day fan continues the useful tradition by also being a great cosplay accessory!
And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
Today's question Today we're going to give more people a chance to answer that really hard question from yesterday:
If you could eat a berry that could magically make you understand, read and write Japanese perfectly or have a cup that could transport you to Japan and back any time you want, which would you choose?
Thank you to LeNeko and KidA for participating so far!
If you would like to submit your answer you can send it to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or send me a PM. I will give you the answer tomorrow.
~ Have a great day!

Hello! Continuing with the funky and new... Today we have something I found quite out of the ordinary. This unique and fun item, is:
Don't you just itch to stand out sometimes? If you're ready to go beyond yesterday's striped socks, than these leggings are the awesome next step. These cool and versatile leggings can be worn on their own as pants, with a long shirt, a dress, or even layered with skirts or shorts. Their polka-dot pattern and the asymmetry are perfect for being different. You can really use them with any style, and wear them anywhere. They could be worn as part of a fancy or sporty outfit, or any and all things in between, whatever your style! So put your different on!
And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
The answer to yesterday's question is: A hachimaki (鉢巻) is a stylized headband (bandana) in Japanese culture, usually made of red or white cloth, worn as a symbol of perseverance or effort by the wearer. These are worn on many occasions, for example, by sports spectators, by women giving birth, students in cram school, office workers, expert tradesmen taking pride in their work, bōsōzoku (teen biker gangs) and even rioters. They are generally decorated with inspirational slogans, like 日本一 (Nippon Ichi, "the best of Japan" or "Japan's best"), but most typically with the rising sun motif.
Today's question: If you could eat a berry that could magically make you understand, read and write Japanese perfectly or have a cup that could transport you to Japan and back any time you want, which would you choose?
If you would like to submit your answer you can send it to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or send me a PM. I will give you the answer tomorrow.

You can wear them with skirts, shorts, or even (like a good friend of mine) over your pants! They have a strong elastic at the top to keep them up while you show your courage to be different. Embrace the power. Be you.

And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
The answer to yesterday's question is: Zori (草履) are flat and Japanese sandals similar to flip-flops, which first appeared in New Zealand and the United States sometime around World War II. They were originally made of rice straw or other plant fibers, cloth, lacquered wood, leather, and rubber. Nowadays Zōri are quite similar to flip-flops,s they are also being made with man-made materials. The flip-flops many of us wear today came from rubber imitations of the wooden thong sandals long worn in Japan.
Today's question: What is an Obi (帯, おび)?
You can submit an answer to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, Or send me a PM. I will give you the answer tomorrow.

Hello again! For yesterday's Stuff, I asked what are the socks that can be worn with geta. Today, our Item is the answer:
Tabi socks!
Tabi (足袋) are essential with traditional clothing like kimono and yukata. Ankle-high and with a separation between the big toe and other toes, they are worn by both men and women with, geta, zori, and other traditional thonged footwear. They are also very comfortable, and have certainly passed the test of time, having been once worn by ninjas and samurai, and growing in popularity today.
And now for the rest of Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
Today's question: What are zōri (草履)?
To submit your answer you can PM me or send it to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com. You can see the answer in tomorrow's episode.

Hello again everyone! Today I have the next item for your traditional Japanese collection, and a great accessory for cosplayers! You can wear your yukata to your event, but you'll need something on your feet:
Black Lacquered Geta for Ladies
Geta (下駄) are a form of traditional Japanese footwear that resemble sandals. They have an elevated wooden base held onto the foot with a fabric strap similar to that on flip-flops to keep the foot well above the ground. They are normally worn with traditional Japanese clothing such as kimono or yukata. These geta are made of a sanded and polished piece of wood with a rubber sole making them easier to walk in and more comfortable. These ones have straps made of purple kimono fabric, but you can also get these geta in other colours.
And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
The answer to yesterday's question is: the romanji "koi" can be translated no less than eight different ways. 鯉 koi is the fish koi (Cyprinus carpio.) 濃い koi means deep in colour, strong in flavour, or a dense consistency 故意 koi is an intention or purpose 恋 koi is a deep-seated, long-lasting love コイ koi is the Khoi people of southern Africa 来い koi is the imperative form of the verb kuru (to come.) 古意 koi means ancient ways. 請い koi means a formal request or entreaty.
*I was looking for “koi” as in carp, the fish. Bonus points to quamp for each and every other translation!
Today's question: What do you call the socks that can be worn with geta?
If you would like to submit your answer you can send it to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or send me a PM. I will give you the answer tomorrow.

Greetings, everyone! Today, continuing with the cosplay theme, we have a very special cosplay indeed, for those of you who really
want to get into the culture:
Cat Girl Maid Outfit
Just like in Japanese Maid Cafe, you can become a maid and a catgirl with this deluxe set of cat ears, cat tail, and matching maid outfit! This cute black and white loli dress was modeled after the cosplay worn in the Maid Cafes in Akihabara, where customers are treated like royalty. It's a perfect piece of culture to bring to you events! You can now become a loli maid yourself, but with the added spark of also being a nekogirl with this fantastic costume. An excellent idea for an upcoming anime convention, costume party, or Halloween.
And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
The answer to yesterday's question is: The Japanese introduced school uniforms in the Meiji Period, when Japan began to modernize its old traditions. At first, the uniform consisted of a simple kimono, worn with a wraparound skirt, or hakama. But later, the uniform was redesigned to follow a more military tradition, with boys donning a smart Prussian-style uniform, and girls adopting blouses with sailor collars, worn with pleated skirts.
Today's question: Where did Japanese Maid Cafes start?
If you would like to submit your answer you can send it to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or send me a PM. I will give you the answer tomorrow.
