aliens, kids in school, some of the kids are pilots
Two series come to mind from that... Neon Genesis Evangelion
and Fafner in the Azure
But I don't think either of them match one boy knows that if you don't show fear the aliens won't attack you and he carries a girl that is knocked out/asleep past them
If Mech's were involved in the series, you might have some luck browsing series tagged Mecha
or wait for one of our experts to reply next. ^_^
