About

This is a place for me ( rei ), the head developer of ACDB to write unfiltered about what goes on behind the scenes at ACDB.

Although, all members can write and post their own news.

My posts though, will always be highly technical and mostly incomprehensible to all but the most esoteric of nerds.

Character Submission reminder

News Update: When adding new series to the database please make sure that all submissions are in the style and format of anime. This means series that contain "realistically drawn characters" do not belong in this database. An example of what does NOT belong in the database would be Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within . Characters should remble something like this:Image

In April (on the 25th) of 2007 a site was born that would turn into the site you see today. Here in images is it story starting from when it was about two months old and had only a little more then two-thousand characters. Image Baby pictures are fun.

Cirno's Stuff if the Day

Image

So everyone, what did you do for February 14th? Did you celebrate Valentines Day or Singles Awareness Day? Either way, is there anything you regret?

Not only is February 14th a good time to try to express yourself to someone, it is also a great time to look back on the year so far. Did you have a new-year's resolution? If so, have you stuck with it? Are you doing well this year? It still pretty early in the year so you have time to pull up your socks and make this year a great one!

Speaking of socks...

Image

THESE ARE NOT SOCKS! They're Leg Warmers!

Leg warmers are coming back, and now you can have some too! These warm, knitted leg warmers also have cute pompoms and go very well with high heels. Not only do they keep your ankles warm, they also look great! Leg warmers can add a perfect touch to your fall, winter or spring outfit. They come in different colours, this is the light grey.

Cirno's Stuff of the Day

Image

Sorry for the delay, had midterms this week *rolls eyes* So, right back to Stuff of the Day!

Until recently, I was hesitant about bringing you games. This is because, I'll be honest, it is not an area I feel confident in. I don't know what games are cool, what systems you guys play, or what you want. It would be so much easier if you guys could give me some tips. What do you look for in a new game?

Today I bring you something cool for sure: Kinect Star Wars! (Xbox360 & Kinect)

Now you can really step into the world of Star Wars! With the controller free technology that is Kinect for Xbox360, you can physically experience adventures as a Jedi. In this world you will be able to use the force, fight with a light sabre, zoom in a podracer and fly starships! Xbox360 Kinect allows you to control the game with full body movements, and what better a game to experience this than Star Wars?

Did you know that there is an official Jedi religion? The Jedi Church believes that there is on all powerful force that binds all things in the universe together. They accept all races and species from all over the universe as potential members of the religion.

~ May the Force be with you! And don't forget to give my tips and suggestions as to what games to bring to Stuff of the Day!

Cirno's Stuff of the Day

Hello again! Today I seem to have noticed that my productivity is inversely proportional to how much stuff I have to do. Basically, the more I have to do the less I feel like doing. That really sucks around test time (like now) when on top of weekly labs and assignments, I get several tests all within a 2 week period. So I just spent about 6 hours on a lab report and CSotD when both should really only need a few minutes... but I get distracted, you know? People to talk to, games to play, Jlist to search through.

So, today from Jlist I've found one of my favourite type of product to write about: easy, fun snack packs from Kracie! This time let me present the Happy Kitchen Hamburger set:

Using just water and a microwave, this kit includes everything you need to make two mini hamburgers, fries an a cola! An easy and fun way to enjoy fast food at home, and its even supposed to taste like the real thing. The kit comes with simple picture instructions on the back of the box to tell you just how you can make real, mini fast food from nothing but water and the included mixes in the microwave. This is just one of those snacks I'm pretty sure you can only find from Japan!

Cirno's Stuff of the day RETURNS!!!!

Image

IT'S ALIVE!!!!

It's been a long time, hasn't it? Perhaps some of you wondered what happened? First came exams, then a time where I was without a computer, then I got my marks and the next semester starts... some of you may know how it is.

But it's been nagging at me that I let my Stuff of the Day slide. And to be honest, I was almost reluctant to start it again. I wasn't sure I could produce the same quality output as I had before. Then one day I was just like: "That's it, CSotD starts today!" and then I put it off to the next day, and the next day... that must have been a week ago. And even right now as I'm typing this and fiddling with the spot on my spacebar that has been worn smooth, I realize that if a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it, it does make a sound, yet if no one reads my Stuff of the day, it can't make any impact on the world. And no one can read it if I don't stop putting off til tomorrow what can be done the next day and start writing it. SO HERE WE GO!!!!

Today we have something a little different, and a little new, from a different site than before! Rein in your wants and feast your eyes on:

This game, based on the anime, (which I actually watched for a change :P ) stars a young scientist in Akihabara who, with his team, accidentally create a time machine and save a girl's life. However, he feels there is a mysterious organization watching his every move. To save everyone's life and his own, he must unlock the secrets held in the hearts of the people around him and unravel the mysteries of the accidental time machine.

The game is scheduled to come out March 14th, 2013 and you can pre-order it today right from Japan!

~ Feel free to PM me with questions, suggestions etc. because the more I know people are reading this, the better I can do to make this fun for them to read every day!

Dec 12, 2012

Hello, people! Today, our Stuff of the day found me, and I didn't have to look for it at all! So I shall present to you another great product from Japan that puts the FUN in functional:

It looks like a delicious chocolate cake, but it's actually a soft hand towel! This superb gift brings together a wacky mix of fine dining and bath-time luxury, two things you don't often find together in such a small package. There are also strawberry, vanilla, and matcha flavoured cake towels, all packed in their cake container and topped with a strawberry. These cakes not only make a nice small gift for the holidays, they are even great for valentines day!

And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!

Answer for our last question, answered by Kana-sama and KidA: The author for the manga Jack Frost is Jinho Ko

Jack Frost follows the story of Noh-A Joo, the new student at Amityville High School. Things start off rather poorly for Noh-A as she quickly comes to realize that the school is not as it appears. Caught in an interschool war between vampires, monsters, and other creatures, she must quickly learn what her new role is as the "mirror image", and how to handle the mysterious Jack Frost.

Today's question:
Who is the author of the manga “xxxHolic”?

You can submit you answer to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or you can send me a PM. I will provide the correct answer in tomorrow's post.

Cirno's Stuff of the Day, SEASON TWO!!!

Image

Dec 12, 2012

Hello again everyone! After a 9 day intermission, may I present to you Cirno's Stuff of the day, Season Two! We are back and better than ever! Here to bring you:
More cool stuff!
More Perfect Trivia!
Even more cool stuff!

So, here we go again! I'm so exited, as I've missed writing for my Stuff of the day. Today, as it is December and the new year is coming, I present to you another calendar, this one featuring our favourite leek girl:

This beautiful calendar has artwork of Miku and her other vocaloid friends. Let Miku accompany you through another year full of potential! With a nice, big size of 59.4 x 42.0 cm (23.4 x 16.5 in ), it's alsi a great decoration. For those of you who don't know what Vocaloid is, it is a software used to synthesize vocals. When used properly, vocaloid can sound pretty close to an actual voice. There are currently more than 20 vocaloid voices available.

And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!

I can't believe it took three days for you guys to answer my last question. Are the questions too hard? :P

Answer for our last question, answered by Solky, UltimateDesura and KidA: Hashima Island commonly called Gunkanjima (meaning Battleship Island), is one among 505 uninhabited islands in the Nagasaki Prefecture. Hashima Island, bought in 1890 by Mitsubishi, is known for its coal mines and their operation during the industrialization of Japan. In 1959, the 6.3-hectare island's population reached its peak of 5,259, with a population density of 835 people per hectare for the whole island.

As petroleum replaced coal in Japan in the 1960s, coal mines began shutting down all over the country, and Hashima's mines were no exception. Mitsubishi officially announced the closing of the mine in 1974, and today Hashima Island is empty and bare, which is why it is called Ghost Island.

Today's question:

Calling all turd heads!

Here's a soft and squishy Poop Hat that will make you really stand out! This hat is shaped like a nice big pile of poo and you can strap it to your head with an elastic. In Japan, poop is considered lucky, because the word in Japanese (unchi) is similar to the word for 'good luck.' A fun party item or just wear it to make everyone around you think you've gone crazy. Why not?

And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!

Answer for our last question: Asparus is a genus of moth in the family Arctiidae.

Today's question:
What was once special about Hashima Island? (Hint: circa 1959)

You can submit you answer to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or you can send me a PM. I will provide the correct answer in tomorrow's post.

Do you like fish? Fish is good for you, like chocolate. Few people dislike chocolate, and whether or not you like fish or chocolate, here is

Its actually not a fish, not at all. Its full of chocolate covered peanuts! You could make a great gift out of this fish-looking pack of sweets, or even prank someone with a nice surprise! Were you fooled? Did you think Cirno's Stuff of the day was going to be fish? Its not a fish, and it still isn't a fish. It is a pack of chocolate covered peanuts and it shall stay that way until you come eat them!

And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
So, yesterday's question was to find a question for today, and despite how long it took me to complete this today, I only got one reply! I was so sure I would be spammed with suggestions. You disappoint me, folks.

Here is the question we received: “What is an Asparus?”

You can submit your answer to cirno@animecharactersdatabase.com, or you can send me a PM.

<LeNeko> I can't help but thinking "poor characters, always seen with this negative connotation of 'traps', they probably just want to be considered as human beings"… I would feel offended if I was called a 'trap'.
